TERROIR

Viladellops Estate consists of sixty hectares of vineyards in the Macizo del Garraf, sub-area of the Penedès Denomination of Origin, as well as other cereal fields and Mediterranean forest.

The soils are extremely calcareous and with evident Mediterranean influences due to their proximity. You can find a lot of sediments and marine fossils since it was an area that had been the bottom of the sea.

The Wines

The whites are made with the Xarel·lo variety and they are expected to express the identity of the territory; saline, powerful and elegant.

The reds are made with Garnacha, the variety that best expresses the personality of our terroir, and some with Syrah. They look for short macerations, defining the wines as elegant, velvety and round.

The Finca Viladellops winery was created in 1877 and produced wine until 1980. At that time, the winery was closed for twenty years until, in 1999, a new project for the future was created.

This new project was based on betting on the autochthonous varieties of the DO Penedès sub-area - Massís del Garraf. The whole property also became ecological.

HISTORy

It comes from a family linked to the earth for centuries. The Desvalls family, Marqueses da Alfarràs, was one of the most important within the Catalan nobility. Currently, 100% is dedicated to Finca Viladellops to make the wine he likes.
